Science Fair

Science Fair

The opportunity to develop and moderate a Science Fair Club allowed me to support students through the process of planning, researching, designing, and presenting original science investigations. Science fair work gives students a chance to move beyond classroom activities and engage in authentic scientific thinking through questions, variables, data, evidence, and communication.

As Science Fair Club moderator, I provide general guidance, reminders, and access to resources as students independently move through the science fair process. Students are responsible for developing their own questions, designing their investigations, completing required forms, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing their final presentations.

Science Fair Club support may include:

  • Sharing links to official UGA science fair forms and resources

  • Reviewing general science fair expectations, deadlines, and approval requirements

  • Discussing the difference between demonstrations and testable investigations

  • Reminding students to consider variables, safety, and responsible research practices

  • Providing general timeline suggestions and project checkpoints

  • Encouraging clear organization of data, graphs, display boards, and presentations

  • Answering process-based questions while maintaining student ownership of the work
