Physical Science

Physical Science gives students the opportunity to connect observable phenomena with the invisible forces, particles, and energy transfers that shape the world around them.

My Physical Science instruction includes a broad range of chemistry and physics concepts, including matter, atoms, ions, isotopes, periodic trends, density, chemical and physical changes, heating and cooling curves, forces and motion, Newton’s Laws, energy, waves, the electromagnetic spectrum, and simple machines. Students build understanding through structured notes, models, diagrams, laboratory investigations, data analysis, and claim-evidence-reasoning explanations.

Because Physical Science often bridges middle school science and high school credit expectations, I focus on helping students develop both conceptual understanding and scientific confidence. Lessons are designed to support a wide range of learners while still challenging students to apply concepts, analyze evidence, and explain their thinking clearly.

Physical Science also provides meaningful opportunities to connect classroom learning to current STEM applications. Topics such as motion, energy, waves, satellites, engineering design, and space exploration allow students to see how science concepts are used in real-world systems, including NASA missions and emerging technologies.
